# The Second Sunday Night Without Tiki

Wow, it is Sunday night now, and I am lying in bed by myself. This is the second week that Tiki has been away. Time feels like it has passed so quickly. Two weeks have already gone by, and tomorrow is Monday again.

This week felt especially fast. On Saturday, I went with my mom and Keda to a park and library in Cedar Park.

During the weekend, I try to spend more time with my family. I cooked a few things this weekend, including some cornbread and pork chops. Keda has a bubble gun that he really likes to play with, and I also learned how to make bubble solution. It felt like I learned another small new skill.

After coming to the U.S., I feel like I have slowly learned so many new life skills without even noticing. Maybe it is because many things in daily life have to be done by yourself. I learned how to kill wasps, how to remove weeds, how to deal with insects, and also a bunch of random car maintenance things, like changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and adding coolant. It feels like I am slowly becoming more capable at everything.

The most amazing thing to me is Keda. He is such a small little thing, but somehow he is suddenly becoming like a tiny person. Sometimes he gives you these unexpected surprises. For example, he says words you did not realize he already knew, or like today, when I showed him some photos, he was able to say the names of his classmates in the pictures. I felt like, wow, so he actually remembers all of this. He just could not say it before.

I feel like he has really grown a lot. When I talk to him now, he interacts with me more and more. I think this is probably one of the joys of being a dad.

During the weekend, I feel like Tiki and I were on the phone all the time. When Tiki is not home, it really does take some getting used to. Talking with Tiki so often feels a bit like going back to the time when we were still dating and would stay on the phone all the time. That feeling is kind of interesting.

In another month, my mom will leave. I feel like she has helped a lot this time by coming here to take care of Keda. But Keda has also become more and more clingy, and he is not as independent as before. I guess this might be a common issue when grandparents help take care of children.

So there is not much we can do for now. After my mom leaves, Tiki and I will need to help him become more independent again. There are still many things he needs to practice later, like potty training and learning to sleep independently.

How should I put it? I feel like everything is important, but at the same time, nothing is that important.
